Statement regarding Basketball Court

Dear community members,

In July 2025 Crossroads Community Church received an infraction report from the City of Calgary.  This report made it clear that having a basketball court at the Cornerstone Youth Centre rental property is in violation of City land use bylaws.  This infraction comes in addition to other ongoing concerns that have been raised about the use of the court.

After much consideration and conversation, it has been decided that unfortunately the basketball court will need to be removed.   This decision was not made lightly, and we realize it is a disappointment for those in the community who have utilized the court over the years.

We understand and value the need to have safe spaces for recreation and gathering.  Our hope is that other areas in the community that are appropriate for this type of recreation will one day be able to host such a space.  We thank you for your understanding on this matter.  For any questions you are welcome to contact Crossroads Community Church via email at board@crossroads-communitychurch.org.
