A passion for God ... a heart for people.

Crossroads Community Church in conjunction with AMOR Ministries will be building a home for a deserving family in Mexico.

The 11' x 22' home, with a concrete slab floor, is a simple design and built according to the standards of the community. The home has two rooms, two windows, one door, a stucco exterior and an asphalt shingle roof. It takes approximately 3.5 days to construct using only hand tools.

Crossroads will supply the labourers and tools, while AMOR supplies the building materials, location and family.

Children under 18 wishing to participate require a parent/guardian. It is recommended that parents accompany their children so they can share the experience with their kids. If this is not possible, then arrangements have to be made for a guardian to be assigned. See Barry Krell for details.

Travel dates are March 20 through 30, 2008.

The cost is $900 which covers meals, accommodations, building materials, transportation, and travel health insurance. It does NOT cover personal spending money.

We will be traveling down in either passenger vans or a Motor Coach.

Accommodations down and back will be in motels as well as sleeping in the vehicles. While in Mexico, we will be camping and cooking our own meals.

Needs:

This project is all volunteer! In addition to building the home, there are numerous tasks that have to be completed. The more people who take on specific tasks, the easier the trip will be. Please volunteer for one of the following groups:

  • Drivers - We need three drivers per van. The drivers must be at least 25 years old.
  • Cook Team - This year, no matter what, we need a designated cook team. Tasks include organizing, cooking and planning the meals while in Mexico. Organizing and packing cooking utensils and equipment. Purchasing food and supplies.
  • Cleaning and Lunch Crew - Help clean up after the meals and prepare the lunches.
  • Construction Tool Team - Organize and pack the construction tools.
  • Construction Manager(s) - Manage all aspects of the house construction, ensuring everyone is involved.
  • Camping Team - Ensure the necessary camping equipment is packed. Manage site setup and tear-down.
  • Events/Travel Coordinator - On rest days, you will need to know where everyone is and coordinate transportation requests as necessary. Organize camp evening activities. Organize Good Friday/Easter Sunday activities.
